Musings of a Nerdy Pachyderm

Oh Apple... Why?

I love to listen to music while I am working on things. Today I have been tinkering with a local LLM to see if I can extend my Personal Knowledge Management plugin for Joplin and I have Apple Music's Study Beats playlist going on my iPhone.

Whenever I open a webpage that has CAPTCHA or some verification prompt (that must be trying to send a browser/system alert) my Mac requests (or rather hijacks) my headphones in an attempt to move their control over to the Mac. This action pauses my music.

Seems pretty harmless right? I thought so too until the 15th or 20th time it happened. I posted to the Apple community a quick question, but I had my normal level of frustrated snark associated with the query. After seeing that a moderator edited my post to remove "since Apple claims to be so damn focused on user experience I would have expected this to be better," I decided to solve the problem myself and posted the replies with the confirmed solution.

The Solution

Just turn the damn convenience feature off!

Apple hand off was intended to allow for you to move your audio, phone call, activity across devices... Just another whiff in a growing list
